清 道光 三十年十二月， 洪秀全 、 楊秀清 等於 廣西 桂平 金田村 起義， 咸豐 元年， 起義軍入 永安州 城， 建號 太平天國 。
洪秀全 稱天王。 三年， 破 南京 ， 建為國都， 改稱 天京 ， 建立國家政權。 勢力發展到十七個省。同治 三年湘軍攻陷 天京 ， 秀全 自殺。 自起事至失敗， 前後共十四年(公元1851－1864年)。
